We will begin the discussion of what you have in mind and come to a decision together. Here is some basic information you should know beforehand:
All paintings are hand painted in oil on either hardboard panels with a ready to hang hook or you may get it framed; or on gallery wrapped canvas with the sides painted so you can hang it or get it framed.
Depending upon whether you want a head only portrait or full body, the price ranges with a basic background are as follows:
Portraits with one pet
6 x 6 or 6 x 8 inches $75
8 x 8 or 8 x 10 inches $115
10 x 10 or 10 x 12 inches $155
12 x 12 or 11 x 14 inches $195
16 x16 or 16 x 20 inches $275
Portraits with two pets
8 inches x 10 inches $200
10 inches x 12 inches $280
11 inches x 14 inches $345
16 inches x 20 inches $495
Larger sizes need to be discussed.
Highly detailed backgrounds can be quoted.
REFERENCE PHOTOS:
I will need one photo of your chosen pose (or we can discuss), as well as 3 or additional photos that clearly show the animal’s colors (especially eye color).
IMPORTANT: To obtain usable photos:
Photograph your pet from down at their eye level. If they are looking up at the camera it makes them look distorted. Having a second person help you by focusing the dog’s attention on a squeak toy helps you pose the dog’s head.
Photograph outdoors in light shade, or by a window. Bright sun and flash wash out the colors and make hard shadows.
After submitting your order, we will talk about your relationship with your pet so that I can get some sense of their personality.
A 25% deposit is required to begin the painting.
Please allow 4-6 weeks for completion of your pet portrait. It may be sooner, but it depends upon the wait list at the time you place your order.
GIFT CERTIFICATES are available if you want to give a gift now but do not have the pet’s photos available.

If you return the artwork for a refund, you thereby relinquish all rights to the work and I am allowed to sell the original and any prints.
